Fall is just around the corner and if you are anything like you, you cant wait for it to arrive. For this seasons fall trends, I’ve decided to break it down into Style Personality types. Our personality not only dictates how we react to situations and interact with others, but also how we decided what to wear. After some research and careful thought, there are 4 Style Personalities that most of us fall into: The Experimenter, The Chic and Casual, The Traditional Master and The Vintage Lover. Let’s have a look at each one more closely and what fall trends fit each style personality best.
As an experimenter, You love to try new things with your looks. You don’t just follow trends, you create them. This fall, print and texture mixing will be one of your go to styles. Take inspiration from Chanel and Marissa Webb. The first look from the Chanel runway highlights the deep colorful texture seen all over the fall runways. In the second look, Tulle mixed with denim is the nontraditional combination you gravitate towards.
The Chic and Casual
You hold to the belief that style doesn’t have to sacrifice comfort. You will find a way to translate an item that is normally seems as frumpy (ie. the sweatshirt) and create a chic look that will turn heads. Take inspiration from Michael Kors. His fall runway presentation was all about comfortable knots with style. Michael’s esthetic for this collection proved the point you always make: Style can equal comfort!
The Traditional Master
You live by Yves Saint Laurent‘s quote “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” Your closet is filled with classic, timeless pieces that you wear again and again. Each season, you shop for updates to traditional styles and may throw in a subtle trend or two. Take Inspiration from Kate Spade and Zac Posen. Both designers have the gift of making classic looks ultra modern, season after season. What I love about Kate’s look is the use of pattern and bright colors on a button up and cropped pant. In Zac’s look, he shows us we can never go wrong with a well tailored pant, white button up and cropped jacket.
The Vintage Lover
You look to the past to inspire your current looks. You love the uniqueness a vintage piece can bring to your outfit. When searching for pieces to add to your wardrobe, you love looks that specifically reference style from decades past. Take inspiration from Bally and Akris. Both looks radiate the feel of vintage in a modern way. I especially love the pleated pants from the Bally look and the beret and midi skirt from the Akris look.
