Top 5 Reasons To Fall In Love With Wooden Floors

In need of a change in your flooring anytime soon? If so, why not think about going for the wood look rather than a carpet? It’s a classic of interior design, and there are plenty of other benefits, too. Here are my top five reasons to fall in love with wooden floors.

They look spectacular

Whatever your preference when it comes to home design, a wooden floor fits with everything. They always look great, regardless of the furniture and decor you use. Regular followers of this blog will know I love mixing up vintage styles with a modern twist – and a wood floor gives you the perfect base for any room.

They are timeless

The trouble with carpets and other flooring options is that they are always capable of going out of fashion. Wood is timeless. It has been used for hundreds – if not thousands – of years, and will continue to do so for much more to come. So, when the time comes to change your wallpaper or decor, you won’t have the added costs of replacing your flooring to match it, either.

They last forever

OK, so maybe your wooden floors won’t last forever – but they will easily rack up 20-30 years if you look after them. Even light, soft wood like pine can be a great option – and you can use sustainable sources, too. Use pine timbers The Right Way, and they can last you a lifetime while helping to save the planet. You will lower your carbon footprint, too, because you might never need to change them again. When you consider people change their carpets every five years or so, you can see the value and benefits.

There is an enormous range of choice

Whether you like light or dark wood, or somewhere in between, there is a wood floor out there for you. You can stain them, paint them, or just leave them looking as natural as possible. You can also use a seal to bring out all the beautiful whirls and patterns – wax or oil does the job perfectly. Wooden flooring is available for all kinds of budgets, too. You can go down the DIY route by exposing your boards and getting a sander – it costs tens of dollars at most.

They are easy to clean and maintain

Drop a glass of red wine on your carpet, and panic sets in immediately. Do so on a wooden floor, and you have no problems at all. In fact, wood flooring is easier to clean all round – and it’s a lot more hygienic, too. Say goodbye to dust mites and carpet bugs – forever! But, what happens when you scratch or damage your wooden flooring? Again, it’s a simple solution., Just sand it down, add some more wax or oil, and it will be as good as new. I love all aspects of home design, but if I can get beauty as well as easy maintenance, I am in absolute heaven!
