I love seeing the work on new and growing designers which is why I was truly excited about the Supmia Spring 2016 Design Competition. If you are not familiar with Supima, it is a luxury cotton that is grown in the southwestern part of the US and is known for its softness and durability and vibrant color. This year, 7 talented, young designers created capsule collections that were truly magnificent. With inspirations from poetry to bouganvillea vines to the NYC sky line, each individual collection represented the designers unique point of view. The winner of this years competition was Kate Mckenna of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Her gowns featured traditional indigo dying and ranged from evening and bridal to fun and flirty.
