The Charlotte Premium Outlets have gone from concept to reality. The 400,000 square foot center on 39 acres officially opens today and they are excepting thousands of shoppers over their first weekend. The day before the grand opening, I had a sneak peek behind the scenes to see what the new shopping complex was all about. Upon first arrival, I am impressed by the beautiful stone facade and the apparent effort they have taken to make the complex a desirable place to shop. As I am walking around, I can’t help but notice that the oval layout is crafted to ensure you can visit all the available stores in one easy round trip. There also seemed to be thought around grouping similar stores together to target specific shoppers; Several Children’s stores are grouped together as well as several athletic based stores like Adidas and Under Armour. The Outlets are anchored by Saks Off 5th and feature 100 luxury brands, including Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Brooks Brothers, Coach, and Tommy Hilfiger to name a few. I also noticed the thoughtful touches they added to the design of the outlets. First, the center is broken down into 4 sections that represent the landscape of North Carolina. You have the Mountains region, the Piedmont region, the Sandhills region and the Coastal region. They also have a variety of seating throughout the complex and a very beautiful, stone outdoor fireplace surrounded with seating to relax and warm up when the weather cools down.
For the opening weekend festivities, they have several fun events planned, including gift card giveaways, local bands, a sand sculpture demonstration and face painting. In addition, individual stores are running promotions and specials for their customers. On Saturday, August 2, you will have the chance to meet TV personality Bethenny Frankel in the VIP Shopper Lounge.
