Even though Punxsutawney Phil predicted six MORE weeks of winter, that doesn’t mean you can’t start strategizing your spring wardrobe. Over the years, personal style has become more about adding key pieces each season versus tossing your finds from previous seasons and starting fresh. Looking through all the spring 2015 runway collections, there are a few themes that are carrying over from last season. For example, all white, platform flats, and ripped denim are still dominating on the runway and in street style looks. To invest wisely in your wardrobe, buy these 5 must have spring items:
A Chic White Sandal
The perfect white sandal can be a versatile piece in your spring/summer collection. Wear you sandals dressed up with a white dress or bright separates. Or, dress them down with jeans and a tee.
Do More With Floral
Nothing quite says spring like floral patterns. While floral is not a new trend, designers and brands are incorporating it everything from head to toe. One of my favorite pieces from the runway was Michael Kors embellished floral skirt; It flounced down the runway like a walking garden. A great way to include the look into your wardrobe is to pair a floral skirt with a floral shoe. Try this beautiful floral lace skirt from Francesca’s paired with paired with these jeweled floral Steve Madden pumps.
A Bag With Interest
This spring, think about your bag as an extension of your personality. Forget the basic bag and go for a bag that takes on a different shape. No one does an interesting bag quite like Kate spade. Her heart shaped tote bag and balloon clutch are certain conversation starters. For a more affordable option, try the “I Heart Pearls Clutch” from Charming Charlie’s, the Lulu Townsend Apple Minaudiere available at DSW or the Novel Clutch from Forever 21.
Fashion has always been a form of art, but I enjoy when a more artistic approach is taken on the fabrics used. Bold paint stroke stripes dominated several runway looks. Bring the runway feel into your wardrobe with this blue stripe top from Fabrik Charlotte.
While this deep, green color is usually reserved for fall, several designers took the task of adding it for spring and pairing it with white. A beautiful shade of green, like the one seen in the ankle cropped trousers from The Limited, will give your outfit that bright pop of color and is one of those items you can wear all year around.
