I must start off by saying that this years Met Gala red carpet was full on questionable looks. This years theme was to honor couturier Charles James. James was a master of dress making and prided himself in detail and structure. Given this background, you would expect our favorite stars to pay their respects by showing up in breathtaking gowns but alas, most did not. There were a few who hit the mark and there were several decent looks. I however was actually surprised as the amount of questionable looks that appeared. Lets breakdown my best dressed and the look that had me scratching my head.
Best
Rihanna in Stella McCartney
The white is dazzling against her skin! Plus I love the modern take on the gown with a 2 piece and a crop top. Some critics were displeased with the hair, but I think it adds edge and fun to the look.
Zoë Saldana in Michael Kors
Classic back and white, but made more interesting with a print. Loving the structure of the gown. She never goes wrong with hair and makeup.
Arizona Muse in Ralph & Russo Couture
One of the reasons I loved this dress is because I believe that if Charles James were alive, He would be creating dresses just like this. Ralph & Russo nailed the theme perfectly.
Worst
Janelle Monáe in Tadashi Shoji
What can I say? She came dressed as a vampire. Love the hair though.
Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney
Cara got dressed thinking she was going clubbing with her friends. This whole look reads cheap.
Erykah Badu in Givenchy at the 2014 Met Gala
Pharrell has already made the hat statement on the red carpet. We don’t need to see it again.
